hi everyone. a buddy of mine just got himself a '97 coupe, and he figures there is a lot of road/tire noise, from the passenger rear. reading in here, i understand that the run flat tires make a lot of noise, but he seems to think the noise is coming from that one particular area. does this ring any bells with anyone? maybe missing sound deadener or something? thanks.

Having do some "swerve" manuvers from lane to lane (side loading). If the sound changes in pitch and intensity it is, most likely, a wheel bearing.
If it is let us know as the part is very expensive from GM and the idential part is much cheaper from other sources.

The stock EMTs do make a lot of noise. If he feels it could be something else, take it to a good mechanic and let them drive it. They may be able to tell whether it is tire noise or not. Good luck.
Yeah, Bill... but you got new tires. Mine were silent too (and I couldn't understand all the complaints) until I got about 7k miles on them. Then it became all too clear...uhh... noisy.
