OK, I have been VERY reluctant to smoke my ceegars in my Vette, but I know it will be inevitable at some point in its life. Do any of you smoke cigars in your Vette and what if any precautions do you take either from falling ash or lingering stale smells?

I smoke at least two cigars a day - but never in the Vette. My car is a convertible like yours - and while the thought has crossed my mind (you know....open top, smoke goes out the top, etc. ) I wondered and worried about flying ash/embers burning a hole.
I do smoke around it when it's parked in the garage, or when I go out to the show and shine on weekends (there's something about sitting in a folding chair, next to my polished car and smoking a cigar! ) - so obviously I'm not too concerned about a stray "smell" getting in the car.
But I don't think I'll smoke in it.... besides that isn't the worst smell I could leave in it if you know what I mean!
I smoke 2-3 cigars per month...but never in my Vette.
Wouldn't want the smell to linger.
I agree with the notion of washing the Vette, apply Zaino, and then light the cigar and enjoy!!

Yea, and you had BBQ ribs for dinner....talk about burning a hole in something.......
Bad place to ask that question, it's not PC on the Fourm to mention bringing foreign substances into the cockpit of a vette.
Hmmm... Don't really see any flames here, but to each his own. I don't subscribe to PC-ness (either pro or con) and have always associated cigars and roadsters, however it is highly dependent on wind currents developed in the cockpit. It could be that the Vette is not a cigar-compatible wind chamber. The Miata was perfect for it and the cigar, ashes and smells could be controlled and avoided as long as the top was down (never smoked with the top up).
However, the majority seem to advise against it, so I will probably continue my reluctance until it becomes unbearable - I certainly would not want to avoid my Vette because of a cigar!
I used to enjoy cigars, but the smell stays on everything. No matter how good they smell when you're smoking them on a night out, the next day Forgetaboutit!
I smoke 2 cigars a day.One going to work, one going home.Don't much care about the "after smell".If they don't like the aroma, walk.I smoke in my car wnenever I damn please.

Now here's a guy who loves cigars. So Rod, given that you are the only positive respondent, what (if any) precautions do you take to prevent ashes (especially live ones) from falling where they can do damage, and are there any wind "directors" that you use to prevent the ash from blowing off when you don't want them too (by the way, for those of you that didn't realize it, good cigars really hold their ashes well unless in a VERY brisk wind).

Do my eyes decieve me? A RARE post from crvtble! I don't think these guys see the humor when talking about passing gas - and I don't mean the kind you get from Chevron!
I smoke about 4 sticks a day. I enjoy smoking while I am driving the Vette, outside the Vette, sitting around the Vette etc.... The secret to the ash is to have the window cracked just enough (about a 54 ring size) to get the cigar through the window; anymore and the ash just flys back in. The smell is not really a problem for me but I will tell you the smell does not linger in the Vette nearly as long as it does in the other cars I drive.
BTW If you rent a non-smoking car from Herzt and it smells of Cigars that was probabaly me and one of my Perdomo Cuban Parejos.
One other thing. Lighting and smoking cigars in a vert is a real pain at cruising speeds. You cannot stop the ash going everywhere and uneven burning of the stick is a real problem.
I love a good cigar, but not in the house, and not in the 'vette; one of the first questions my clients almost always ask about 'vettes we list is "Has it ever been smoked in?" So if you think you might want to sell it yourself someday, keep in mind that 95% of your prospects will move on if you have to answer "Yes" to that question.
While I wouldn't smoke in my Vette, it's your car and do what you want. And you're right, if someone doesn't like the smell they have legs to walk. Screw 'em...enjoy your car and your cigars!
