Hey Guy's, finally got my red Halltech stinger for my 04Z from Corvette Garage last week and took part of last Sunday to do the install, my business and personal schedule has been so hectic I didn't have a chance to drive it until today, put 250 + miles on her today and no codes as of yet.Man WAS I STOKED!! What I did was to TAKE THE ADVISE of one of the guys on the forum known as MMorse, if you look back at one of the Halltech stinger threads he tells how he cut a hole in the plastic piece under the Warhead and used a dryer scoop to pull in air from the bottom side, I found out later that Halltech also has a similar fix on there site (look under tech tips by dave, and he shows alot of pictures where they used a plastic scoop from from office depot. I couldn't find anything that I liked so I made my own scoop out of thin sheet metal and used pop rivets to attach to the plastic piece. On the Hall tech site they pulled the plastic piece that separates the radiator for the engine compartment out, I thought that was way to much work and I did the complete install from the top side of the motor with the hood up, I cut the hole in the plastic with a box knife and trimed it square with tin snips, just taking my old sweet time to check everything out and measure twice (maybe three or four times, I wanted this right) and cutting once it only took 3-4 hours, (but I enjoy working on my street legal race car) I am double stoked, using my SOTP computer it seems more responsive, sounds better and the red air bridge goes well with the fuel rail covers and the Optima battey.
THANKS for your input MMorse- you made my day man!!!!, now I need to find some Cailf. smog legal headers before I go to the Dyno shop.

Oh no guy's, if I start showing codes I will definitely let the forum know, and yes, I did mean office depot, if you go to the Halltech site, look under Tech Tips by Dave they will show pictures of a plastic type folder carrier that would normally mount on a wall, this is what he was using for his air scoop.

Sorry about that. I read Dryer Scoop and made that association to Office Depot which wouldn't carry that.

Glad to help out ROHO! I've had my mod for almost 2000 miles now and no codes. I also did my mod without removing the shroud. Trick is to measure, measure, measure and take your time.
So Mark, you never had to modify your MAF? Just that extra cold air seemed to keep your codes away? I originally settled with the fact that i'd most likely have to get an '01 MAF that has the screen in it for the code solution. I haven't been able to play with my intake lately because of time constraints. But once i figure out what to do, i have to do my Z and my buddy's '04 coupe. Then again, i heard this was only a problem (codes) with the Z's and not the LS1's. Thanks, and congrats with the sucessfull idea.
Whats WIERD is my halltech was installed without any modification. Just put in place like you would do normally. Iv had NO CODES and put over 2K miles on the setup.

Hi folks -
I have a complete TRAP system on my 02 Z - it has been on there for at least 10k miles - no codes, no problems, no kidding.
I drove it about a thousand miles from home to Miami to get the tune tweaked after I installed it - and no codes.
I put a Halltech CF air bridge on a stock 01 Z, using the stock airbox and an 02 lid - no codes there either.
from most of the threads i remember reading on here, most of the "code-throwers" were '04 Z's. I think some '03's too, but supposedly the '04's run much leaner from the factory then the earlier models. Anyone here have an '04 that hasn't coded with the stinger?

No I did nothing to the MAF. Getting an '01 MAF should solve the issue also. I put a Vortex cold air intake on my '01 so I had no problem cutting a hole in the shroud and doing the dryer vent mod I came up with. It only cost me about $6 and a couple hours of time. I would have gotten and '01 MAF if my mod experiment hadn't worked. The temps have gone from dry and hot here where I live to cool and more humid. No codes at all! Still planning on getting it tuned though.
I just got my Stinger on Friday and when I went to install it, I noticed the air bridge section sits way to high to clear the hood. Also the silicon rubber coupler piece was bent up at a weird angle. What I wound up doing is using the warhead filter with the stock bridge.
After driving about 10 miles I scanned the PCM and noticed my LTFTs went up about +11% across the board indicating very lean. So the filter really does let in some air, I just wish I could have used the stinger air bridge without having to cut the radiator shroud.
Anyone else notice the Stinger is not exactly "plug-n-play"?

High LTFT does NOT indicate more air. High LTFT indicates inaccurate initial closed loop fuel metering.
Hey Guy's, I actually posted that Halletech stinger fix about a month age and just wanted to bring you up to date on the fix. I have close to 2000 miles on the Z and no lean codes as of yet. I really think that the small air scoop and the 6X6 hole in the shroud is a very cost effective fix. I will say thanks to M.M. once again for his post on his fix for the Halltech installed on an 04 Z06, it sure has been working for me, and I will also say thanks to Halltech and hope your doing fine.

You can use the Stinger Bridge section. On my 04 Coupe it made a slight indent into the headliner. Nothing into the hood itself.
Good Luck.
