I checked off another do it yourself this weekend (Friday actually). I painted my front calipers and hubs. I've had the paint for a while and just couldn't get around to doing it. Well, here they are. I still have to get the rear done.
I painted the front hubs because they are aftermarket and were flash rusting badly....the rear are OEM and have the plating on them.....what should I do to apply paint to this surface...is simply roughing it up with sandpaper and cleaning them sufficient?
Looks good! I hope to get mine done soon. What paint did you use and where did you get it?
Chuck
Thanks. It's "Plasti-Kote" Brake Caliper Paint. The color is Bright Red and the code is CP-251. I got mine at PEP Boys but I would imagine that it's available at most autoparts places. Just in case anyone is interested. It's a spray paint that I sprayed into a container and brushed on with the calipers still on the car.
hehe, if u dont like the red ones, your gonna love my blue ones that i just did.....
yours looks great, no black in the middle...keep it the same color as the caliper imo....now mine im still up it the air about....might have to post em and get some feedback about the color...

I agree with keeping the color the same. You know, I think I like your blue ones too!
I have a pewter 01.Thinking about painting my calipers red also. Anyone out there have peictures of a pewter car with calipers painted other than red? Also, what did you use to paint the corvette on the caliper?
Thanks

There not painted actually. I simply painted everything red, then steel wooled/sanded the tops of the letters off and then added a clear coat over them to protect them. Others have suggested a thin application of chapstick or vaseline on them prior to painting then just wipe them off.
