for the first time...
i got a bone stock 04 vert. cruising on pacific coast highway, 04 cobra svt kept following me, wanting to run. i didn't give much attention, at least i tried to look it, but he got me really annoyed. stoped at the left turn signal on beach blvd where several miles ahead is open to run, i switched into 'competitve mode'(thanks to Dave Q, Brian...for teaching me how 
). there we started to run...reved it upto 5500rmp on 1st, 2nd, 3rd... he was already about 3-4 cars behind me!!! 
stoped at the signal side by side, he gave me his thumbs up saying, "can't beat it!!!"
we decided to pull over checking out eachothers' cars. his 04 cobra svt had stock super charger pushing over 400+ hp, he said. only mod he had was the magna-flow exhaust. i had to admit, his silver stang looks and sounds nice.
we shook hands, complimented both cars, exchanged names and we waved eachother as we left. very nice gentleman with a very nice american built muscles, the whole thing just made my day.

Isn't it nice to meet a fellow car person. BTW, the competitive mode will not give 50 more HP. Wish it did.

C'mon guys! The placebo effect was obviously working for him. It gave him the confidence to drive beyond his own capabilities and beat the Cobra.

you may think i'm stupid from some of my dumb threads, but i do have my corvettet friends too!!! i know "R" is reverse in low speed but works as "Rock on 5th" in high speed racing! they are not in the same place for no reason! DOH!!!. my vette friends even told me why it's never mentioned in the manual or at the dealers...it's dangerous and too fast. c'mon guys, i'm in with you here. i know the things that we supposed to know about corvettes.

Competitive mode disables traction control but retains active handling. Traction control limits the slip or spin of rear wheels. Active handling helps in case you lose control in a slide type situation. The first press of the button in a C5 will shut off active handling which is not a good idea, unless you're autocrossing and want total control. Holding the button down for 5 secs. activates competitive mode which merely shuts off the traction control for launches requiring wheel spin. There is no other HP or performance gain.

You're gonna get us all fired! No Hooters for 2 weeks! There. That's aught to set him straight! 
Road racing I only showed him how to go into Comp Mode, so he could do a 20 ft burnout and leave 1.5 lbs of rubber on the road (closed course ... well, maybe not "closed" ... very empty at least ... the cows didn't mind!) But he learned from that quickly ... remember? $100 per ????
Oh yeah, he has an M6.I read your thread to Marcus over the phone he was ROFL. He said, "Only Toni would blow some shmuck away, stop and make friends with the guy after!"
BTW, Nanas, you don't need to be in Comp Mode. That's just so your tires can spin without loosing RPM's ... remember?
