[Z06] NGK plugs!?

NGK plugs!?
I have an 03 Z06 with about 20,000 miles on the engine. My only mods are an X pipe and borla stingers. For no apparant reason, guy thing I guess, I decided to change the plugs to the NGK TR55GPs. The change went smoothly but the test drive did not. Know for a fact that all wires were on securly and idle and low RPM the engine ran OK. HOWEVER, after about 20 miles I took it up in RPMs and could feel the engine start to miss and bog down. Also received codes U 1016 and 1096 in multiple areas. Got back home and put the Delco's back in and the problem went away. Has this happened to anyone else and if so, what causes this? One other bit of information, I left the factory gap on the TR55s which was .060. If I am not mistaken the delco's are .040. Could this cause the problem I encountered?
