More Mods!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OK OK>>>>seriously thou. What are the best HEADERS, PIPES, X-PIPE, CATs, and EXHAUST SYSTEM???????? Will adding any of this in any way violate my warranty??? Its a 2004 so its going to be under the factory warranty for about 6 years.
C5 Tech has endless debates between LGs and Kooks. I chose the kooks because a)they are manufactured in Long Island, which is a plus for us b)their cats come with a heat shield, whereas the LGs don't. The heat shields prevent heat from rising up into the footwells and center stack and c)The fit and finish on the the kooks is superb, there were a couple of LG complaints posted which kind of put me off towards them even though initially they were my first choice.
When it comes to who makes more hp, the debate is endless although from dyno numbers I've seen posted, I think the LGs make just a tiny bit more but alot has to do with the tuning.
My brother they are going to ignore you or roast you for this one!!
Do a search and you will get umpteen posts regarding this and in the end it will come down to personal preference. Good luck.
You might want to define your goal (550 hp, track car, show and go, SCCA) and then maybe (after search) you can get back with some more specific questions.
You could also start by speaking with a forum sponser/tuner (?) in the NY area.
There are just so many options out there for the C5, its not a question with a single answer. Even if I could tell you the 'best' header we could debate diameter for the rest of the day and, hey, I have a set of Bullets to put in Yellow04z's car this afternoon!
You are in a similar boat as me concerning warranty. Mine is an 03 Coupe MN6 with 18mos remaining under warranty. I have done a Blackwing air intake and GHL Bullet cat back exhaust. I want to do Headers (Kooks or TPIS) Hi-Flow cats, cam, and springs, and Breathless Shifter, but my dealer informed me that GM policy is to report any aftermarket part and deny the warranty. I informed him of the federal law concerning a causal relationship between mod and failure, and he indicated that I could use that as an appeal. But, they would deny warranty work if there have been any mods other than cat back exhaust, and maybe air intake. They have already denied some claims because of air intake and oil in the MATF. Presently, he is ignoring air intake mods, unless it is a claim in the accompanying components. Hydor lock of the engine with a modded air intake is going to be denied, according to this dealer. Sucks, but I don't think there are any easy answers as individual dealers represent the first hurdle over the GM stonewall and it is clear they intend it to be an uphill battle. I'm counting my months of remaining warranty.

Many different brands of headers out there - just comes down to what you feel comfortable with. I am leaning towards the DynaTech headers since I have heard many good things about them. If you are worried about your warranty - check with the dealer you plan on getting your car serviced from.

The heat shield might prevent some heat from coming up through the footwells but it is much more noticeable now than with the stock cats, that's for sure.

That's true, if your vette is lowered, you may wanna go with something else. Mine is at stock height and so far (knock on wood) haven't had any problems, even with NYC's sometimes crazy street speed bumps or my dipped driveway.
I'm not sure what is best, but I can tell you that I went with Kooks with 3" cats, x-pipe, and Corsa Touring with Tiger Shark tips. I had a coated tunnel shield installed while the pipes were out, which has noticeably cut down on the heat in the cabin. I love the responsiveness and the sound.
I just had them put on a little over a week ago and immediately drove them for over 1500 miles, here's a writeup I just posted if you're interested....
