I took my 04 into Mcdermott chevy in East Haven CT late yesterday. Received prompt and courteous treatment. Steering column recall attended to and new gas cap to address a check engine problem. The service manager is a long time vette owner who took the time to give me some great tips. I will be going back when it comes time for my first oil change ($50.00) and plan to use them as my service dealer.
My only complaint is the reading material in the waiting room. Joe, how about something besides golf magazines!
I know there are tons of legitimate dealer complaints out there, but overall - I've been very fortunate and very pleased with the treatment I get. I know I'm paying more - but I also know that the average tenure of the mechanics there is about 27 years - at the same dealership.
I bring the Mobil 1, and get my oil changed (including their providing the filter) for $15. I wouldn't even consider jacking up my car for that little. They even offered to keep my car during our multiple hurricanes.
But the magazines are lousy. And they need the Speed or Golf Channel on their TV. And better free coffee. And I could use a recliner in the waiting room, too. Maybe a little darker lighting or mood music, too.......
It's Great to hear about the Good Dealers out there who know how to treat the Corvette Customer. Hope to hear more about Great Dealer who take care of us.These posts will let us know who we can trust. Save the Wave.>George
Except for ordering the wrong part once and an underhood light needing a second trip Titus-Will in Olympia, WA has done a solid job, they did the first oil change for free and the Vette mechanic there is more then willing to share insights which have saved me money (i.e my '02 already had a Delco Gell cell type battery which would not leak
and therefore no Optima Top was necessary) The only downside is the hour drive from my house (except an hour in a Vette ain't so bad!
I don't understand how chasing a little ball around a big open field and wacking it with a $2000 set of sticks can be fun or enjoyable.
Think about this - 7,000 yards of manicured lawn that you don't have to mow combined with cart girls who bring you drinks and don't nag or tell you to take the garbage out, plus 4-5 hours away from EVERYTHING.
