Default Remote no work (help)

When I had my 99 Vette. out on Sun., the remote started acting up , sometimes lock , then not. Put a new battery in , tried to synchronize, no go. Then tried a relearn no go, Cleaned the battery and remote with electronic cleaner, as was suggesred on the Forum, still no go. Borrowed a friends remote tried a relearn, no go. Disconnected the battery for a couple of hours today , hoping something would rest, still dead. Does anyone have any idea's before I have to take to the dealer, thanks Jim.

Jim,
What year is your friend's vette? His remote has to have the same GM # on the back and have the passive switch on the front in order for it to work on your vette. If his remote is the right one then it's possible it could be the receiver. On the other hand if your Tire Pressure Sensors are giving you readouts then it may not be the receiver since the TPS's and the Remotes operate on the same frequency.

I had problems with mine ('98) and finally bought a new one. It works perfectly now. I think they just wear out. Gene at Fred Beans has the remote for the '97-'99 (with the passive switch) shipped for under $81! My local dealer wants $140!

Even with a new battery, could just be the fob is kaput. Or, like mentioned above, could be the receiver. If you have a second fob, try to program it and see if it works. Hopefully that is all it is.
