Default Side Molding Question

Hey, I have been looking at vette's for a while now and was wondering do most of the cars come with side moldings or are mostly without them. Does any1 have any production numbers of any sort to chuck out at me. Thanks BTW I prefer the side molding look

Haven't seen any stats that would give you the number that came with BSM's. It seems to either be a personal preference or they came on a pre-ordered car by the dealer. Seems like this option generates a lot of love/hate responses.

Since they can be bought as an after-market item, (see Eckler's Catalog) it might be hard to use Corvette production numbers to determine how many Vettes have them.

I'm guessing that 70-80% of Corvettes (C5's) have the BSM based on my personal observations...

You might try the for sale section. I am sure there's someone there that's taken them off. And will sell them to you.

With or without the BSM the car looks great, I am pretty sure that it was as an option when the car was bought.

Default Side Molding Question

Cars with side moulding:

1997 - 44 %
1998 - 55 %
1999 - 88 %
2000 - 93 %
2001 - 95 %
2002 - 93 %

That's as far as my black book goes!

Just a personal opinion....

Mine came with the BSM's but IMHO, they take away from the lines of the car. I wish it didn't have 'em but I'm a little worried about taking them off, although I understand it's pretty easy to do.

Dan,
Take them off asap at any and all costs...(even if I have to send you the money to have it done)...or else your Vette will look fugly forever(or as long as they are on...which ever comes first)...

Since this is a civilized conversation about BSM, I just want to say that I was only making an attempt at humor in my previous post. BSM are a matter of personal preference like anything else. People should do whatever THEY like, not what others like. I happen to like wagon wheels, and I know I'm in the minority, but I don't care. It's my car and all I care about is if I like it or not. So, to each their own, live and let live.
