Hello all! I just found out that I'm going to Pigeion Forge and Gatlinburg TN for a week in later October. I can't wait to get down to the smokies. The leaves should be about peak by then and running the mountain roads with the top down and the colored leaves swirling behind me as I blow through them will be awesome! I can't wait to take some great pics of the vette! A couple of us will be renting a luxury cabin in the mountains so I can't wait. This will be her first road trip and at 2K miles round trip, I'll find out just how comfortable she is. Have a great night fellow vettes owners.
Do yourself a favor. Get a local roadmap and find out where Rt. 129 is. This place is called Deals Gap and Rt. 129 is referred to as "The tail of the Dragon". 317 curves in 11 miles. You will have a blast and it's only about an hours drive from Gatlinburg.
The Smoky Montains are great...I cannot say enough about them.
The East Tennessee Corvette Club just had their annual Corvette show there at the Park Vista Hotel in Gatlinburg.
You will need to check out Townsend, which leads to the Foothills Pkwy, then to the Tail of the Dragon, and finally the Cherohala Skyway....each a tremedous sight seeing and challenging stretch of road that you will remember forever.

Thanks for the info. That really sounds like a great area. I wondered where the tail of the dragon was, so now I have to take a run through there. It looks like there are some great photo ops there.
