Default black paint prob

i knew when i got a black car it was going to be high maint. but man my paint seems to be getting a bit of those little swirls. anyone have any advice on what to do about it, i already wax every month and get it detailed every 4 months, although i must say finding a good detailing service is insanely hard. maybe something else like clear coat?

Had the same swirl marks as you mentioned and also had a bajillion white lines in the clearcoat that really stood out under white light. Took it to a detailer that has been in the business for 26 years after trying everything. Hand buffing, machine buffing, different applicators, different products, etc etc. I gave up trying and actually just picked the car up today (yesterday, its 230am here). UNBEliEVABLE! This thing is next to showroom condition again. The process included (quoted from his pricing sheet):

Showroom Auto Polishing: A professional buffing, strips oxidation, adds luster to faded paint, removes minor scratches, swirl marks, and tar. Additionally we polish and glaze paint, chrome, aluminum, dress rubber, detail emblems, touch up paint chips to manufacturers color code. Vacuum, dust vinyl, clean mats and windows.

Neutral Paint Sealant: Recommended for new and some used vehicles. After a barrage of cleaning and polishing, we apply a clear high gloss finish. This acrylic and teflon coating keeps road salt out and prevents fading-longer than any polish or wax.

He also buffed my windows and got rid of the trillion small white dots from the acid rain. Dumb polluted environment.

Also, if you are inexperienced in auto cleaning, do not attempt any kind of machine buffing. You can do a lot more damage than good. Sorry this is so long, but I'm just trying to save you the heartache of making things worse. And I'm speaking from experience.

Do you mind telling how much the detailing cost?

Default Car detailing

If anyone needs their cars detailed i have a car detailing busines is allentown, Pa my number is 610-730-6336. I have a black 2002 zo6 and its a pain. But t keep it looking pristine i polish it because it gets rid of small scratches and swirls. Also pre-wax helps alot. Wax is only for protection not shine or getting rid of swirl marks. Polish or pre-wax is where it is at. If anyone needs there done please give em a call. I am the cheapest and best around. Thanks, Brian

A good detailer should be able to get at least the majority of those swirl marks out. Check around with other Vette or classic car owners (i.e., go to shows and ask) - I'll bet they can give you some recommendations.

Does anyone know a great detailing place in the Bronx, NY or tri-state area that specializes in Vettes?
