i experienced this feature in my C5 coupe, but as yet, have not in the Z.rest assured that i have exceeded the 6200rpm level!am i missing something here,or isn't that part of the Z makeup!?
Some have said its actually set a bit lower than the 6500 redline (like 6250 - But might be dependent on which guage your looking at). The Tach on the Dash does experience "LAG" and may not be accurate while engine RPM's are climbing rapidly. The HUD is Supposedly more accurate w/o LAG. So depending on where your looking you may see the limit "hit" at different RPM's.
I have yet to approach the limit on my Z personally. I believe there were several previous posts regarding the limiter, so you might want to do a search.

Hi krabtree13 -
On my 2002 the stock limiter was set at 6500rpm. It is just a bit higher now with LS1 Edit.
hey,lager99...you missed step 3;shouldn't i fire her up before proceeding to step 4!?!oh,in another vein,i'm just curious about this,so do not take O-ffense.is the term"hoser"considered derogatory???

The LS6 redline is 6500 RPM, the rev limiter (fuel cutoff) is 6600 RPM. When you hit it you will definately know it. Now get out there and bang it a few times just for us....

And I wouldn't recommend increasing that unless you address the timing chain which isn't designed to operate at high rpms for very long... been there, done that, learned the hard way.
The first time I hit the rev limiter, it was a total shock. From standing start to rev limiter happened so fast that, when the limited cut in, I thought I broke something. My reaction was to lift off completely, clutch in, shift to neutral, and coast to a stop with clutch held in. After shutting down the engine and checking everything carefully, I cranked the engine and drove slowly home. Back at the house, I called a fellow Z06 owner and told him my sad story. After he stopped laughing at me, he explained about the rev limiter.
It is there and it works. If you happen to hit it, I suggest you shift.
I keep getting "closer". Today I swear I saw the HUD flash to 67-68, but no fuel cutoff. It's hard to tell for sure in 1 & 2, easier to see in 3rd. That's fast enough in a 35 mph zone, even out here in the country. My V1 can't help THAT.
