Optimum Shifting?
1.I've noticed that when I shift gears, if I am around 5500 -5800 RPM they just seem to slip in and out of gear as smooth as can be. When I shift at low RPM's the shifting is much more rough. Does everyone experience this?
2. If someone wanted to shift at the optimum time for maximum speed(just hypothetically speaking
) what RPM would members suggest.

Horsepower at the wheels is what accelerates the car. A while ago I grabbed some stock Z06 dyno plots, and mapped them through each gear to speed and put them on the same graph. Where each gear's curve crosses is the optimum shift point for max acceleration. The result? None of the graphs overlap except for 4 & 5, so shift at the rev limiter (6500 rpm) for every gear but 4th, where you shift into 5th at 6300 (about 150mph). 6th goes unused, since when 5th reaches 185mph at 6500 and is putting 340 hp down to the ground, 6th gear is only at 4300 and is putting a mere 280 down. But how often does anyone reach 185?
