Default Difficulty Closing Trunk

Have to push it down 2 or 3 times before it latches closed. Any tricks to closing it?

Slam it. Especially if your windows are shut.

Open a door and it will close easily.
Just an air pressure issue.
It's just one of those nuances that you have to live with.

Close by putting hand/fingers on the Rear lid emblem and slam

Wish it has the motorized pull-down other GM's have but that would have added a few lbs and some warrantee repair costs !

You don't have to slam it.

Just set it down on the latch, then put your hand on the emblem and press down.

No need to slam it. Just get used to it. (If you have a partition, it's even worse...grrrrr)

Lightening:

Maybe your rubber stops are too high? With the trunk closed, does the edge of the trunk line up with the body edge? If not, try twisting the stops to the right and see if they can be lowered a little. This worked for me on my '02. The right side corner was higher than the left.

Odd, I've never had to slam my Z06 trunk lid. I close it gently, this press down on the back of the trunk lid, between the emblem on the trunk lid and the edge. It just clicks into place.

There are two rubber stops, one on each of the back corners of the trunk opening. They are adjustable. If they are set too high, the trunk lid won't seat properly. That could cause a problem with the trunk not latching shut.

If they are set too low, the trunk lid won't "pop" up slightly when you open it.

hope the problem turns out to be something simple,

dave

When mine got hard to close after I had adjusted the rubber stops, a little lube made all the difference.

mine is hard to close too...
which is why something i was watching on tv the other day caught my eye
i dont remember what channel it was but it was about the developement to production of the c6 and something they seemed to make a deal about was the trunk (hatch) closing. the test guy made a deal of it not working (working like we all think is normal) and they supposedly fixed the "problem." in the clip it showed the guy drop the hatch from about 12" and it closed completely (with the doors closed and windows up) but i suppose we'll see if this is really the case or not.

The C6 has alot of cool features. They made the windows automatically roll down a few inches when you open the doors to make them easier to close, then they roll back up once the door is closed. Either they did a similar thing for the trunk or put in the motorized latch that GM has used on several models over the years (not really sure what the trunk fix is on the C6). Just thought the window thing is pretty cool. All that said, I still would rather have my '04 Z06 for the time being.
