Default Help!

My gas cover won't open and I'm on the road. Where is the manual release located? (...and is this a fuse operated thing?)

Open up the center console and you'll see a button towards the front of it. If it won't open that way, there is a tab located against the upper trim on the driver's side in the rear compartment. Pull it to manually release the fuel filler door.

Opened the drivers side rear storage and cant find anything. Is it in/around that compartment or behind a panel? Its a 98 if that makes a difference

Might be behind some panel...I got the previous info from my '02 Corvette manual...

You may have to take a look up behind some stuff. Sorry can't be more help.

Maybe someone with a '98 will chime in...

OK, I just went and looked at mine... Mine is an '04; I don't know if yours would be any different or not... but the manual release cord was not IN the rear storage compartment. It was sort of up underneath the top rim of the left wall. Open the hatch and run your hand underneath the upper lip on the driver's side and you should feel it ... if it's in the same place as mine.

I just went out to the garage and looked in the rear compartment of my 98 Coupe. On the left hand side in the rear hatch area, I have a tag sticking out of the carpet that reads fuel door release or something like that. It is attached to a wire that will release the gas door. I hope this helps.

It's hard to describe...there's a little plastic tab that sticks out from between the trim panels in the upper portion of the rear compartment. If you stand exactly at the back of the rear wheel, it's directly above that point in the rear compartment.

I went down to my garage to find it myself. Good luck with yours.

Thanks - but no luck. Nothing there. Any other suggestions? It's a 98 coupe

It's got to be there. That's where it is on everyone else's who answered. I wonder if the plastic tag came off?? Can you feel any kind of wire around the top of that side panel on the left side of the trunk area??

If you're standing in back of your car and looking into the rear compartment - look at where the gas door would be if it were on the inside - you should see a little wire (with a yellow tab) which should manually open your cap...
