After about 30 hours on this site over the last week or so, I finally got off the fence and bought an 01 Z06 with 4000 miles.
Thanks for the site, the advice from those who answered my posts and the car fax report.
Great site and great people.
Thanks,
Al

Good for you Al and welcome. Lock up your checkbook in a blast safe box because modding isnt cheap!
I tried to post a picture, but I'm a bit of a techo dummy.
It's Red with the red and black Z06 interior. The Z06 wheels were removed and the side of insides are painted red to match the car. With the red calipers it accents real well.
I'm totally nuerotic about caring for my cars and this is the first vehicle I have ever bought from someone more nuerotic than me. I didn't get the greatest deal, but I think I bought the cleanest used vet on the market. I almost passed on it, but I decided I'd rather get the right car than the best deal.
What is the "colunm lock bipass"?
How do I check what the 01 Z06 recalls were? Carfax says it went in for service in early 01, but no details.
The skip shift eliminator will be the first mod. Then after I pay my tax and license tomorrow, I'll see if I have any left over $ for an extended warranty. (Too early to tell if I'm burning oil).
I'm checking around for a good deal on an extended warranty. I'll probably go GM since Warranty Direct doesn't do Z06's. I emailed Fichtner and called Sam in Il & waiting for some quotes. $1025 for 4 years 36K miles is the best I got and I was hoping to stay a little cheaper since I won't drive this baby more that 2-3,000 miles a year.
Thanks again eveyone for the help. I don't think I would have taken the plunge without all the info on this forum.
Al
