I am looking into getting an extended warranty. I got two different companies that some forum members are currently using, the price is about the same as is the coverage.
My question is should I really get it. The price for the coverage is about 2100, $0.00 deductible - This is for 25 months/25000 miles which covers the 16 major parts (Warranty direct). I have a 98 A4 with 59250 miles on it. Looking at the service history, it seems that most of the most common problems (windows, tensioner, idler pulley, Battery acid drip, fuel sensor, the oil pressure sendor (just got it done)) have been taken care of.
It is not a daily driver, I use it about 2-3 times/week avg and will probably put about 7500-8500 miles/year on it. I don't dirve it too hard, but do get onto it every now and then.
It averages to about $88/ month in warranty.
Tell me what you guys think - you have been very helpful so far.
Thanks
Your car is 6 years old w/ 60k miles on it. One serious problem can make that $2100 look like peanuts. This is why I recently went w/WarrentyDirect for extended coverage on my 1998 Coupe. Good luck.
P.S. For a few hundred $ more, you can get 37mo/37000 mile coverage. Well worth the cost, if you're planning on keeping the car for a while.
