A lot of folks poopooed CarMax but.....
2000 Chevrolet Corvette 2D Hardtop
Stock Number: 2555148
Exterior Color: Silver
Interior Color: Black Leather
Mileage: 9K
No Haggle Price: $23,599
For a FRC and 9k miles this seems like a really good way to get a C5.
I already have a C5 Coupe. Can't afford or have room for another.
It just seems like a great deal for a forum member after they check it out.

Check the Carfax - But it looks like a sweet deal. I used Carmax web site to gauge the used market last winter (for months) before finally finding a sweet new deal at Kerbeck. Carmax is an excellent resource. Had I found that car in Feb or March, I would have jumped on it after a favorable Carfax & pleasant test drive! Good luck!
My C5 came from Carmax and I have been pleased with it. They have pretty high standards for what they sale on their lot. I checked into what they would give me for my 01 Z28 and they said it didn't meet their quality standards because of wield in subframe connectors and they could tell where it had been in a minor parking lot accident.
carmax wont sell a car that has more than one body panel painted/replaced - and if its been hit it most likely wont be sold unless it was something very minor. Ive seem them inspect the cars they sell - they really do their job well! Some people complain about their prices but its right on par with kbb values and they have a real-time network of what cars are selling for at auctions. eg: your excursion wont get you alot of money now that gas is so expensive.
another example - my vette came from carmax and it was wholesaled (only reason i could get it because my dad is a manger) The front bumper and front right fender were replaced - thats all. The car has 28,000 miles on it and I got it for a great price. ive seen cars 3 times as worse at dealer lots and this is a wholesale car in carmax's eyes.

best of luck with your search!
The people at Carmax are sheisters as far as I'm concerned. Anyone who would use the price of gas to adjust the value of a car has problems. I realize that high gas prices will affect car prices, but not THAT much. Face it, someone who is even remotely interested in buying a gas guzzler such as a Corvette or an SUV is simply not concerned with gas prices.
If it's so much of an issue, why are we still seeing so many SUV's on the road? Gas prices have been on the rise for like 3 years now. It's just a BS excuse they try to use to get people to sell their cars to Carmax for cheap, IMO.
I traded my Z28 Convertible (which was low mileage) to a dealership for my C5 for ~$3k more than what Carmax offered me.

- At about 18mpg in town and 30mpg highway, it would hardly be called a gas guzzler. Kudos to the GM engineers that can come up with a car that is as exciting to drive as a Vette and gets that kind of mileage.
The price for that car at Car-Max sounds pretty good.......then when you consider there were only about 2200 FRC's made in '00, it's a fairly rare car.

Every one thinks that because it's a high horse power V8 it must be a gas guzzler. Not the case!
