I am putting a 6" lift and 35" tires on my new C5.......
Nevermind, that's my truck I'm doing that too.
Where do you guys recommend placing the jack to raise my new C5, front and rear? Is there any place under there that would look good but is really a big nono?
Also, I have not had a chance to see if my standard floor jacks will even fit under the car yet, will I need to get a new low profile jack to lift this car?
BTW, I just got it less than 3 weeks ago. It's an 02 coupe, LeMans Blue, auto, all other options except side molding and selective suspension.
I think my Mustangs are planning to attack it while I sleep.
First of all Cliff, while I realize that your first statement is a joke, is the rest of your posting serious? There was no Lemans Blue on 2002 as far as I know, it was only renamed in 2004 (I think GM called the color Lux Blue Metallic prior to that - but I have never heard of it called that on a Vette).
Anyway, lift the center of the rear of the Vette using a 2x4 across the center aluminum frame section (such that it spans the whole length of the section) or using hockey pucks under the spring brackets. I usually jacket at the frame section and put my jackstands (with hockey pucks) under the spring brackets.
I have a low profile jack from Harbor Freight (you will see it mentioned elsewhere here on the Forum), but there are some standard jacks that can get under the rear of the car if it has not been lowered.
Because the front lift point are hard to get to, I jack the front from the side lift points (where the oval tie down slots are - again w/hockey pucks).
Throw your mustangs some apples to keep them at bay.

I was actually going to post pics tonight or tomorrow night to find out if I had the color right. I was told it is LeMans Blue, but I saw a pic in someones sig on here that appears to be the same collor as mine, his says it's Electron Blue.
Yes I was seriously asking about jacking points. I know on Mustangs you should never jack on the torque boxes even though that is where almost everybody does it.
I figured I would have to drive up on boards. Still have not had a chance to see if my jacks will fit under the car, or how much board thickness I will need to get enough jack clearance. I'll check that whole site out this weekend. I think my brother has shown me that site before.
brother, you need to call me more often. i could save you some typing, but you never listened to me anyway
i run my car up on 3" boards that are chamfered on the ends. then put jack (not low-profile) under with a 10" long 2x8 on the jack. i center the wood under the crossbar piece (not sure proper name) but it is in the center of the car and will leave 2 lines about 5" apart going side to side in the wood. some jack the car from the sides with the pucks in the locations that the molding is not there. open the door, although i dont remember why, if you do this way.
ps - yes i did show you. also "ls1howto.com" for other good info
