Never noticed THIS before.....
As I mentioned in a thread last week, I cleaned the air filter in my Vararam after not realizing how dirty it as. Well yesterday I was doing a quick spray detail while the car was running & thought I heard an air suction sound from the front mesh. I put my towel over it to cover it & it was very muffled, almost gone. I repeated this on the other side & had the same result!
Point being that w/ the Vararam you really are getting air pulled or forced into the intake from the ducts!!! Just a FYI... Ron

Last oil change I was tempted to put it back in it was so clean. I never would of course, but you get my point.

Tell me about it. I scraped 1 a7 recently bumped a curb & took a little chunk out of it. I'm not ready to replace them though. Both instances were because of my stupidity!!

and other stuff too, its like a vacuum cleaner. 
I had to remove mine due to the sand I kept cleaning just before the filter. Better safe than sorry.
