My '01 (late May production) has this feature and I've used it several times when young ones were in the car.

Yes....Any Chevy dealer can sell you a passenger side air bag bypass kit.
I installed one on my '98 a few years ago. EZ install for basic mechanical/electrical skills. Good luck...

You can retrofit the switch on older C5s.

The ability to disable the passenger air bag came from the factory in the mid-2000 model year. But, you can buy a kit that will enable you to do this on earlier C5's. Contact Bob at Fichtner Chevy - he can help you out.
