I remember seeing a forum member who shortens the stock shifter and sells them for $50 with an exchange. I can't seem to find him despites several search attempts. Any ideas?
This gentleman cuts the shaft at the junction where the wide part starts, removes 1" of unthreaded shaft, and rewelds it in order to retain the full length of thread and center cut for the locking pin.

You have one already right there on your console! I removed my ****, cut 1.5" off w/ a hack saw in like 3 minutes, replaced the **** & done. Set up to clean up (made easier w/ putting a shopping bag w/ the stick poking thru)=10 minutes, $0.
