Default Hurst Shifter

OK, my 04 is week old and the CLB is on, the Blackwing is on, the
Z06 sway bars are on and the Hurst short throw shifter is on.

GHL's and lowering next week.

Question about the shifter though. I measure the overall shift
travel (1 -> 2) has shortened by ~ 2 inches. A quick drive around
and I have to admit, it feels wierd.
Maybe just a week of driving and my arm is calibrated to the stock
shifter.

I left the factory Hurst springs in (heavy outer and light inner)
and It is a bit tough to move side to side. I adjusted the tension
screws out but I feel it is a little tougher than I would like.

Before I go and swap the springs, can I expect it to soften up
over a few weeks?

I also feel the shifts are a bit "notchy" as well. Is this the shifter,
linkage or the tranny?

Any thoughts welcomed.

Thanks...George

Default Shifter change.

My buddy just had the Hurst shifter put on his 02 Z06, he likes it.
I'm seriously considering the change myself. Hope things work out for you

Yup, I've also got an '04 Coupe, and installed the Hurst Shifter about 3 months ago now, maybe longer. It is definitely "notchier" than the stock shifter. A couple weeks ago, I drove my buddies '02 with the stock shifter, sheet!, I almost dislocated my shoulder shifting from 2nd to 3rd! It felt so sloppy and loose.

The spring question: I personally didn't like how stiff the Hurst srping set-up was (heavy outer lightest inner) so I tried just the light inner - still to "stiff" for me. I ended up going down to Ace Hardware and finding a set of springs that were tall and wide enough but had less tension. I love the feel of it now.

You'll have to upgrade the shifter **** too.

Happy driving!

They do loosen up. I could barely pull my back when first installed. Now it has loosened up and is still getting looser, (which is good).

Not sure if mine got looser, or I just got used to it. But it doesn't seem overly tight now.

Thanks All:

I'll give it a little time to loosen up. It's easy enough to change out
the springs if I need to.
