OMG.. Im an Idoit!
Today before I left my house, I decided that the trunk was getting full of crap and I should get all my cloths out of it and vacuum it later. After I clean every thing out I droped my keys in the trunk and did not notice and went in the house for like five min then when back to the car and shut the trunk, then walked to the driver door. NOOO!!! The doors were locked!! Thats my only set of keys! So now im stuck driving my 1992 Sable untill I can order a second set on monday. Im going to miss my vette so much. Has this happend to anyone else? How much does the keys cost and how long do they take?

Every thing you have described has happened to me.... except I have an extra key
Not to state the obvious... but I take it you are not covered by GM roadside assistance, AAA, or lock out with your insurance company. It's nice having these problems fix themselves in your own driveway.
Be glad that it did not happen at some truck stop in Ohio.
Good Luck

You should have received 2 sets of keys with the Vette. What happened to the second set?

I carry a spare door key in my wallet. I know that sounds like a Monday morning Quaterback, but I learned the hard way, along time ago, that that is cheap insurance.
On another note. Not drivin' the Vette for a couple days, just makes it that much better when you do. Remember, absence makes the heart grow fonder.
And don't ever let it happen again.
Have a good one.

I only got one key and fob with my used Vette. The dealer tried to get the other set (the car came from of their other locations across the state) with no luck. They agreed to pay for a new key and fob at the local Chevy dealer. The price (probably not dealer-to-dealer) quoted me by the Chevy parts department guy is $29 for a key and $45 for the fob.
I also didn't get the owner's manual (the reason for some of my questions) and they've ordered me one of those. Not sure how much they're having to pay.

Damn pewter, you beat me to it...
'Tis okay, for there were many more to choose from...LOL.
Seriously, yup, the passive system works great. I always leave it on. Can't tell you how many times I've shut the car off and pulled the key back that extra 1/8" to keep the bell from dinging and walked away.
Since the car thinks the keys are out of the ignition, it'll lock the car down within a few seconds... though the keys are sitting in there.

With a long coat hanger you can be in in seconds.. probably the easiest car in the world to get into.. I usually have to do this a few times a year. We have one of those long rods for getting into cars and the vette is the easiet car by far.. Forget Monday.. think like McGuiver
