I was reading in the C6 section last night and I saw this post about a stock C6 slightly edging out a stock 2001 Z06 that had two people in it throug the 1/4 mile.....


Nonthing wrong there....With the slower model year and 2 people in the Z06 it could easily happen......

What got me upset was how all these people started saying that the C6 was the new top dawg and just as fast as the Z06......!!!!!??????


The guy ran a 13.0 at 109 and they say it's close to a Z06???????

If I bought a Z06 and ran the strip in 80 degree weather and pulled ONLY a 13.0 at 109.....

Id take the car back to the dealer and see wha was wrong with it....Especialy if my 60 ft's and shifts all seemed good.....

Even crappy/first time drivers in 80 degree weather pull 12.9's in 02 and up Z06's.

A 12.9 is 5 tenths away from WHAT A GOOD DRIVER CAN DO IN NORMAL WEATHER..




I guess what Im trying to say is that we all he to know our role.....

I know that as th owner of a 2004 a4 w/ 2.73's....Im at the bottom of the food chain.....

My car runs 13.5 in 85 degree weather at a DA of usualy 1300.....BONE STOCK... 13.2 if converted to perfect DA and conditions..

Yea I could use all the little calculators and crap since I live here in Hawaii wher it never gets under 75 degree ( even in th winter at night)

But you run wat you run......

So I know my role and that a Z06 ( BONE STOCK) will run about a 12.7 at the best at my track.....12.4 if converted to perfect DA and conditions....

So I KNOW, that a Z06 at the same track under the same conditions is 8 TENTHS faster than my car stock for stock with normal drivers....

Weather the conditions are perfect and I pull a 13.2 and the Z06 pulls a 12.4.....

Or were in 85 degree weather and I pull a 13.5 compared to the Z06's 12.7....

I make no excuse......I REALIZE THAT THE Z06 IS THE TOP DAWG....


WHY CANT THE C6??????....

They even tried to quote times from Motor trend and Car and driver saying that both these magazines quoted the performnce for the C6 Z51 to be a 12.7 at 112 and 113.....

What they failed to remember is tha these 12.7's wernt actualy ran....

We all know that Motor trend and Car and Driver both convet their times to a perfect DA.......They both probaly ran close to a 13 flat at 110 mph....


The mag that posted an actual trach time wa Automobile......With the uncorrected time posted the C6 Z51 ran a 13.2....

Another respected mag who's name escpes me right ow ran a 13.1..

So it would appear to me that the UNCORRECTED times from the two mags in the 12'.7's would actualy be12.9's at best....

The other to mag times ar legit...

If you do an average of these 4 times your gonna get an average of around 13 fat (a high 13 fat very close to a 13.1)...

Even if you left in the two DA corrected 12.7's you'd stil get an average of 12.9..

This in know way close to a Z06....

Not eveen remotly close..........And this is the C6 w/ Z51 package....
The Z51 has so far averaged a ......12.9-13.0
The non Z51 will probaly average a 13.1-13.2...

The 3.15 a4 will probaly average a 13.2-13.3

The 2.73 a4 will probaly average a 13.3-13.4


Z06 BEATER...HA HA HA HA HA.......

Those numbers barely beat out the C5 by comparison.....

The average C5 Z51 will run a 13.2-13.3

The average non Z51 C5 wil run a 13.3-13.4

The average C5 3.15 a4 ill run a 13.4-13.5

The average C5 2.73 will run a 13.5-13.6

SEEMS TO ME THAT THERES ONLY A 2-3 TENTH DIFFERANCE BETWEEN THE C6 AND C5 ACROSS THE BOARD......

The same book that gave the C6 Z51 a 12.7 (Motor Trend) gave the C5 Z51 a 13.0 against the cobra not to long ago......

The C6 is closer to the C5 in performance than the Z06......

MUCH closer......

Even if some one dose pull off a 12.7 in there bone stock C6....

That will still be 3 tenths sower than what some on in a Z06 can do on average.....

Most of them wilL pullL a 12.9-13.1 at best and be within 3 tenths of a C5.....BUT STILL OVER HALF A SECOND SLOWER THAN THE Z06...

I know my role...Why cant they.......I mean really...

13 flat or 13.1 or 13.2 like some mags wrote is just nonthing to brag about.....

We have stock c5s, run those times bone stock weekly....

A 13.1 or 13.2 means that my car ay my 85 degree track woul only be about 3-4 tenths behind the Z51 C6....And Im in a a4 w/ 2.73's...

My 13.5 would be hanging pretty close.....

If they dont have the Z51 package Ill be maybe two cars behind.....

If it's an a4 C6 then it will be a drivers race...With the C6 having a one or two tenth advantage....

Z06 beater?????????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????????????? ?????

I would agree but the one key factor I think would be that the C6 would be more of a beast from a roll...I know from like 45-70 its likes 2 seconds quicker than the C5.......... As far as the Dragstrip you are definitely correct....... They have decent trap speeds but they are not cutting good ET's......

GMHTP magazine got a bone stock 04 Z to run 11.9.........

I dont see the C6 doing that......at least for quite a while if ever

I don't really think about it, but I'm sure some kid (whether it be by age or mindset) will want to race me in his brand new C6. I'll be going, "Wow! Nice car!", and he'll be like, "I ownz u". Whatever...

I had a guy run a for way light at an intersection once, because he wanted to race me so bad. I was in my Camaro SS, at the time, and he was in a silver Z06.

I try to remember that it's the person behind the wheel, not the car.

 

not braggin but my bone stock Z @ 55o miles ran a 12.4 et not to shabby and I have yet to see C6s get close to that.

 

Don't get too wrapped around the axle on these initial "head to head" contests. Since there is no control over the drivers ability, condition of the car or track various out comes will occur. But at the end of the day there are over 3 years of track times to support the Z's abilities. Taken as an average I believe the Z is a faster drag and road course car - for now any way. The new Z should be a monster.

C5 Z06 > C6...end of story. lets see a stock C6 in low 12s....its very commin for a stock Z. some of those guys over there in the C6 forum r such babies. they can talk the C6 up over anything, but if u bring up one thing about another car being better or liking it better (whether its another gen vette or even an exotic), you get flamed, then they put u on their ignore list. i mean, the C6 is sweet..i like it alot. but i think that part of forum is full of people that make it not fun to post there.
