My g/f has a mustang. It's just a 4 cyl. but she goes on her mustang forum... that's cool, no big deal. Well, as many of you know, I recently painted it Canary yellow.
Well, apparently she found a "Yellow Mustang registry" forum. Point is, she got on there and I read some of the posts. First, I think it's ridiculous that you have a forum just for a specific color.... but more importantly, what a bunch of *****. They are snotty, ridiculously childish snobs. I would have thought that corvette owners would have been snotty before I joined this forum. It turns out that this is the most helpful, mature and fun forum I've been on.
Sorry, just needed to rant, couldn't believe how stupid some of the posts were...
It's because Corvette owners are older, what with going through their mid life crisis and all.
In general Vette owners tend to be very respectful and understanding of others, where as, in my experience, some other car owners tend to be, or seem to be, jealous/disrespectful of anything that isn't theirs.

I'm on this forum because I like the atmosphere, information, humor and general feeling of belonging that I didn't find on other forums. This one is by far the best.
I think the idea of having a forum for the car you love is great. I think trying to make it separate because it's a certain color, well, that's just ridiculous. (IMO)

I don't think that savewave or any of the members of the Black Sheep Squadron would agree with you Mark. If you want to participate in the colored corvette subsections the best way to do it is to join the C5 Registry. My particular color group, the green hornets, hasn't updated their site in a couple years...

True, but then everyone knows that MSG Vettes are faster....
Having left the Mustang world earlier this year and then joining the Corvette world, I have to say to MyBlueC5, who got this thread started, neither world is bad, just different. I bought a Canary Yellow GT in 94 and spent the next 10 years and an ungodly amount of money turning it into an absolute muscle car like the one I never had in the 60's. The only thing was, it was just me and the car. My wife hated it, too loud, rode too rough, vibrated too much, etc, etc, and all the folks I seemed to come in contact with were 20-30 years younger. I met some nice folks who knew a lot about Mustangs, but it was just about horsepower! It served its purpose and I sold it (BTW, through the Yellow Mustang Registry).
We (note I say "we") bought a 04 Torch Red Coupe and joined a totally different world where our Vette brought us into a world we like much better. With cruising with friends, spent a couple days at Carlisle, made reservations for Bloomington, visited a couple clubs, my wife & I have yet another social outlet. We're meeting some great folks and, while I haven't made many posts, I read the forum almost every day. It is really a great forum! We're already doing some things to make the car "ours" and planning a couple of mods to help it breath better and make it sound more like the muscle car it can be! Guess that's a holdover from the Yellow GT!
Anyway, thanks for letting me be part of the Forum and enter a different world from that of the Mustang!!
I've seen it a number of times, generally the older the crowd, the more mature and helpful the forum. Mustangs are more obtainable by younger individuals, mostly because of price, hence the higher average age and maturity level of the corvette forum. Also generally, as cars age their price drops, so the owning society decreases in age as well. There are certainly other factors related to this issue, but I think these are the major ones.
This forum is the highlight of my day to read. It was worth the price of the Vette just to belong and read these posts. The humor is great and the information given is great. Thanks for allowing me to be a part of it. Dan
I agree with what ya'll are saying. Though personally I think it's silly to have a forum based on color, my original gripe wasn't with the members just because they joined it on the color of their car, my gripe was after reading some of the posts, I realized the maturity level of the group as a whole.
One post was mentioning that they were accused of being snobby because they had a V8 in their yellow mustang and the other yellow mustang only had a 6 cyl.
Some one else put a pic of their yellow mustang and the majority of the replys were... "so what, it's just another yellow mustang"... well damn, I'm sorry, isn't this the Yellow mustang forum.
Don't get me wrong, some of our posts are just plain stupid. (ie. Antonio Bananahead...lol) J/K but I rarely see anyone here being downright rude and ignorant to a new member.
I guess because the mean age is probably a lot younger than that in the corvette forum.... I dunno, I wasn't trying to flame anyone, I guess after reading some of the posts on that forum, it made me appreciate all that goes on here.... (including Bananahead's silly posts...lol)
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
