Euro Lite: Update .. DIAL UP BEWARE!
For those wanting to get rid of the "egg yolk" ...
Look what I did. PLEASE USE CAUTION. Here's the comparison -
Chrome coated amber bulbs, 2-2 packs = $50.00
Can of VHT paint (Aluminum)+ 4 amber, long life bulbs+ 1 hr. = $15 Sprayed the mist, just enough to coat the bulbs ... I took off just the top of the bulb to allow the light shine thru .. Looks fine! Here you can see thru (looking at the sun) ... Mounted and activated ... Compared to reg. amber ... All sealed up and done!

I might have missed a link or I'm having problems with the computer, but I did not see a picture of what you did. It sounds great, I'll check back in a little while.
YO-EL (Ellis) came up with another alternative a couple of years ago. He found that using a clear bulb that is amber when in use looked much better than the amber bulbs. Unfortunately, the new bulbs cost $24.99 a pair.
The Bulbs are Sylvania 3057A (SilverStar high performance lighting) purchased at Pep Boys.
Here's a shot of what they look like. The left are the clear bulbs mentioned above and the rights are the original.
as for the above mentioned silverstar bulbs, thats the same thing (sylvania silverstars) for my front clear turn signals and they actually look blue when off but a bright amber when lit. this is a pic of them off. when i think i can spring the 50+ to do the rear ill change them as well, but they are expensive, for bulbs anyway.
Maybe I just don't get it...you spend $50,000 on a C5 but feel the need to skimp on purchasing titanium bulbs for a set of clear euro lenses? This is like my manager that spends $10.00 on gas driving to WallyWorld or CostCO just to save $1.20 on toilet paper and maybe another .30 on tampons.

You're right about one thing .. you don't get it ... ideas are born, tried and tested by people like some on this forum. Others sit back and ride the wake ... This was just an experiment. Go out and spend your money. You earned it! I have more important things than light bulbs to spend my money on! Go out and buy whatever you want ... sounds like gas consumption concerns are your focus Besides, I'm 31 and semi-retired ... lots of time.
