I never noticed this before on my Z06 but it appears to have a flat or dent area on each side of the nose just above the turn signals and air inlet screens. It feels flat to the touch and at first I thought I must have hit something but it is the same on the other side. My car is MY so it is hard to spot imperfections and probably the reason I never noticed it before. I don't think it's there because the car hit anything. Anyone else see this on their nose?
Here's a picture, if you look at the reflection on the lower part of the nose just above the brace between the turn signal and air inlet screen, you can see a flat area. It's the same on the other side. Some sort of defect in the nose plastic maybe?
Can only be seen and felt if you are looking for it and run your fingers along the area. So I'm wondering if I should even worry about it.

I can't tell from your photo but if your paint is not cracking or it not that extremely obvious I would leave it alone. Like I said it looks great.
I hope you never look at my TR car that closely! I looked at my Z and don't detect what your seeing. Maybe your car has it and mine doesn't or maybe you just have better eyesight.
I tend spot the little things that others don't catch for some reason. I doubt I would do anything about this on my car but just wondered if it was a form defect as it doesn't seem to be from impact. It most likely had them from the factory before even being painted. I remember back when some people were getting C5's with lower rear end body flaws and GM was fixng it. Thought maybe my problem might be something like that others also have.

I went to look at my front end and tried to see a similar "flat" spot but try as I did, never saw one. It's such a minor thing, nobody will see it unless you make them get real close and look at it just so.
My guess is that there is at least one area on everybody's car that is a bit less than perfect, especially if you have a DD and a life to live outside of the garage.
Not that I'm not trying to have a perfect car, mind you. I just bought my "winter car" yesterday and now plan to REALLY detail the Vette 'cause it will no longer be getting wet and dirty...
Luckily, here in the Northwest, there are nice clear winter days occasionaly and I will take it out and exercise it then. No need for the extensive winter prep like some of you guys in the mid-western and north-eastern states.
Funny you mention this - I was just pointing this out to QS_Z06 this weekend over an oil change... I got'em too. Maybe it's a MY thing.
I looked up underneath the headlighht assembly and it seems that the turnsignal housing has a corner right there that pushes into the backside of the nose of the car creating the buldge. Everyone I try to show thinks I'm crazy. I'm not sure that too much can easily be done. If you figure it out let me know.

Exactly! I have a picture that shows the pushed out area. While I'm not happy about this, I'm glad someone else has it and I'm not alone. It would be interesting to know if this is just a MY thing or maybe it's just that it's easier to see at the right angles with lighter paint.
does it feel like a dry spot when your run your finger over it? not quiet smooth.
if you bought this car used, you should check into if the nose was ever replaced. They could have used a remaned nose instead of a new OEM part. They did this to my nose when they repainted it the first time, emphasizes on first time.
If you are org. owner and it hasn't been replaced or repainted, then I'd say it was from when they painted it at the factory. If that's the case, it's a defect and I'd try to get the dealer to fix it.
I bought the car new. The area is smooth. It isn't paint build up or anything like that. It is as intofx stated, something behind the plastic is pushing out on it, which in turn causes a slight bulge and a small flat area on the nose. I'm thinking the turn signal might have shifted inside to cause this. I can't get a good look inside to find out for sure. Hey intofx, can you get a pic of that area inside?
Here is another picture showing the bulge, it's just above the brace between the turn signal and air inlet screen. I now totally agree with intofx, that it is caused by the turn signal internals behind the nose. If I push the front upper portion of the turn signal in, the bulge goes away and the flat area rounds out.
Since the inside of the turn signals are definately pressing against the inside of the nose, could this end up cutting the nose? It seems like driving vibrations would cause wear on the softer plastic nose.
