Does anyone know if GM has specific painting instructions supplied to their dealerships on how to repaint Millenium yellow? My wife had her car repaired by Autoway Cheverolet in Tampa and it came back terrible. First problem is this, when you replace the front bumber it comes from the manufacturer unpainted and it is black. If you are painting the car yellow is it required to first spray the bumper with a white primer? The reason I ask is because the front bumper was NOT sprayed with white primer and it is easy to see that the front bumper is now darker than the rest of the car. Next problem is that after she got the car home she opened the hatch and found the front brake air ducts had not been reinstalled on the car. Then we noticed that the fog lights are totally out of alignment, the driver side light is pointing almost straight down inside the facia, not even remotely close to where it should be. And don't let me forget to mention that the application of the paint is not up to standard for a corvette or any other vehicle for that matter. These problems have called the entire repair into question and I am not confident the the bumper has even been installed correctly. The really sad part of all this is that this was their FORTH attempt to get this car right and the body shop manager gave me his word that he had personally inspected the car and it was perfect according to him. I have completely lost faith in their ability to fix this car and am now in the process of working with my insurance company to send the car to a different dealership. Should I ask the new dealership to completely remove the bumper and sand it back down and prime it white or should I leave that decision to them?
i feel your pain i was at the stealership today and the tech backed off the lift too quickly and scraped the lower rockers behind doth doord on the lift im not letting them fix it

i work in a bodyshop and the first thing that you do is complain to the insurance company and get it taken to a different shop..when they redo the the frt bumper make sure its prepped and painted off the car..you will get the best results this way..as for the color being off and the ability to re install brake ducts and mis aligned fogs, you will not get this if the shop is good at what they do..mil. yellow happens to be a hard color to apply..the tints are a bitccch to work with..good luck..i hope everything works out...
Start from scratch. As a matter of fact, if I were you, I would take the car to a bodyshop that specializes in Vettes. Send the bill to the original dealership. I wouldn't trust a dealership with my life - they have no idea what they are doing.

THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH THIS IS ONCE YOU RE PAINT IT,YOU WONT HAVE ANY PROOF OF THE BAD JOB THAT WAS FIRST DONE..NO MATTER HOW BAD THE FIRST PAINT WORK CAME OUT,THERE IS NO PIC THAT WILL SHOW THIER CRAPPY WORKMANSHIP..WAIT TILL SEE WHAT INSURANCE SAYS..THERE WILL AWAYS BE TIME TO GET THE CAR PERFECT!!!I DO AGREE TO GO TO A SHOP THAT SPECIALIZES IN VETTES..
