given that it is difficult to get an extended warranty for my recently acquired 2000 Coupe, I would like to ask what bad experiences members have had that might make such a warranty even necessary? what major problems occur in C5 Corvettes several years out that would be covered under an extended warranty? in other words, is it actually a good idea to get an extended warranty, at a cost of at least $2000, or is it reasonably safe to trust in the reliability of Chevrolet?
I bought a 2000 last spring with about 45,000 miles. I purchased an extended warranty from my local small town dealer. Cost was about $1600, I just had the rocking drivers seat and power door lock fixed, $0 deductable for me, total bill $1014. So far it has worked great for me, but it may depend on who is doing the work. I know dealers get a bunch of grief from members, but my dealer bends over backward to help me. Almost forgot, I did not buy the car from them. Just my 2 cents worth.

Just last week I had to take my car in for a leak in the seal between the tranny and the differential. Thankfully I had an extended warranty. Repair cost for this was $660, which almost paid for what I shelled out for the warranty when I bought the car. While I hope that nothing else goes wrong, the peace of mind knowing that most items are covered is worth the cost to me.
I purchased my warranty in 2002 for 2000 coupe through warrantybynet and paid $1,500.00. So far I had the airconditioning compressor replaced. $1600. 0 deductible. and I just had the belt tensioner replaced $450.00 So it sure did pay for itself. My coupe has 55000 miles on it and the warranty is for 75000 or until 2007 which ever comes first.
Platinum Warranty Corporation. This a good company to check out. I got a 7 yr and/or 100,000 mile warranty for approx $1,600.00 or about $135.00 a month for 12 months. Check them out.

who in the heck charged $450 for a new belt tensioner plus labor?...I just bought the part for $39 wholesale and replaced it myself in 30 minutes...but the GM dealer would charge you $57 for the tensioner and $75 for one hour labor and thats still just about $122 for the entire job...was your tensioner gold plated?
I bought a 100K mile, 7 yr, 0 deductible from 1source for around $1700. So far I haven't had anything go wrong (55K miles) where I have had to use it but my mechanic said that he has dealth with them and had no particular problems. I wouldn't want to have the car without that warranty. When I think of the cost that would have been involved with all the stuff my dealer fixed, it was a no-brainer.
I bought a a 99 coupe with 20k miles that was out of warranty and bought a 2 yr 25k mile warranty from warrantydirect.com for $1959 with a 0 deductable...If you have a common rear seal leak, fuel gauge problem, or anything electronic it will cost you big bucks...My left rear seal is leaking and I got a $650 price quote...
My 37mo./37000mi. WarrantyDirect policy cost me about $2400 for my '98 coupe. It's a lot of money, but, I'll have peace of mind for the next 3 years. One major repair bill can easily wipe out the cost of the preimum.
any reason not to go with an extended warranty from Chevrolet, as opposed to the other places mentioned in earlier posts? the pricing seems to be similar.

I am getting an extended warranty from Ken Fichtner for my '04 by GM...called Major Guard...My Chevy dealewrship service writer said it is the easiest one to put a claim in for...no hassle just done by computer and no inspections by Insurance reps...
Got my extended warranty from Fitchner Chevrolet while the car was still under the original warranty so the price was right. I'm hoping I don't need it. I plan on keeping the car another year or so and selling the car with the balance of the warranty.
