I orderded the aluminum jacking pucks from WCC. They looked so nice I glued them in using a weatherproof sealant called GOOP.They are semi-permanent and could be removed easily with a screwdriver but they definitely won't fall off.
At least 3 times since I put them on a month ago, they have been used to help change the exhaust, take a wheel off, etc. Each time the workman has thanked me for making it safer/easier for them to protect the car body and lift the car.
You can't see them unless you get down on your knees,(not a good position because it seems GM has us on our knees too often).
I have seen cracked damaged underbody panels, I wouldn't buy the $500 steel protectors when you can get the nice aluminum pucks for $79. They look like "billet" parts, nicely done. There is a GP going from a Forum vendor on the sidebar.

I agree - the jacking pucks have been very handy when I have had to have work done on my car. My dealer sure appreciates it that I have them and they don't have to worry about cracking the rocker panel.
My question is: I have been thinking of gluing the BMW pucks in. But,
When you have to have the car towed, the manual I believe states that
R hooks should be placed in those same holes. Are there other places to chain down the car ?
There is one negative... My car is lowered and I had left them in. Unfortunately I was going through a rougher road (unavoidable, but I was going very slow and carefully) and one puck caught on to a rock jutting out which ripped the puck out, along with tearing the rocker panel a bit. Just a consideration....good luck!
I'll carry my pucks with me for service. Sometimes I just leave them in the cargo net for months on end. I have the home made hockey puck version which works fine but, I cant attach them. Nice story and a good thought for anyone considering the purchase. Maybe I could goop a single hockey puck to each location...would that provide enough protection?

Oh, that's ugly. Good reminder to us all, sorry you had to learn the hard way.
I just had my car towed this week, I hit a parked car doing about 40mph. The tow guy never said a thing about the pucks taking up those holes and needing the access.
You are probably right about the purpose of removing the pucks for towing but I figured I'd forget about the pucks if they weren't in semi- perminently.
I can imagine having them in the trunk compartment but the tire or muffler guy doesn't know that and I forget to tell him.
The tow guy never said a word when he flatbedded the car out of my driveway.

Well unfortunatley that means your car was pulled up the back of the flat bed probably by the axle or worse!
