I installed the PIAA 1100X lights and the wiring harness this weekend, except for the connection to the purple wire under the fuse box #39 relay. There were two purple wires fairly close together as shown in the picture and I was not sure which one is the correct one. I assume that the correct wire is #1 in the picture, closest to the edge, but could someone who has done this before confirm which is the correct wire? This is in a 2003 Z06.
What I had to do is un-bolt the top portion of the fuse holder so I could get a little more wiggle room. Can't remember but I believe it's the purple wire that comes from the #39 fuse. With a little more room we could determine the correct wire. I used a wire crimp gizmo since there just didn't seem to be enough slack in the wire to attempt a splice.
I didn't use the one provided though. My buddy had a real nice one that was easy to use and when it "snapped" shut both connections were made.
I will be using a wire crimp also (not the one supplied with the lights) since as you noted, there is not much room for anything else. I guess I will do some searches to see if somebody has identified more precisely which purple wire to tap into. Maybe get out my meter and dust it off. I don't want to make a mistake tapping into the wrong wire if I can avoid it.
