It changes the damping (hardness) of the shocks according to the switch selector in the cabin from soft to medium to hard (touring-sport-performance). The harder the setting, the better the response but the harsher the ride. In reality, the differences in the settings are somewhat subtle.
The latest incarnation of selective damping, F55, was introduced in '03 and carries over to the C6. Appaarently, F55 outshines F45 noticeably.

My car has that option. If you get in a car with the F45 option, there will be a **** on the center conside beside the Active Handling/Traction Control button that will have 3 different settings. There are not too subtle as I can tell a noticable difference between them.
