Default Damaged Rear Bumper

My neighbor put his trailer hitch through the lower left rear of my C5, leaving a hole the size of a golf ball. We're friends (still!!), and his insurance will pay.

Is it better to repair this one piece unit and hope the body shop matches the paint (2004 Le Mans Blue), or should I replace the whole thing?

Thanks,
HHNTR111

I'd have a real hard time not yanking the stocker here and going with the Specter Werkes rear fascia. Maybe one of these days someone will back into mine so I can justify that mod.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. If a competent shop does a repair, it'll probably be unnoticeable. But I'd always be worried about the paint spidering down the road. Course then you could, once again consider the SW rear. Replacing the entire fascia will require blending the adjacent panels.

*~*Edit*~* In case you decide to go the stock replacement route:

Good luck with the repair.

I just went thru this after smacking the wall at my club Autocross, the bumper cover is non-repairable due to it extremely flexible nature, the good news is the whole thing is only about 400.00 bucks, the down side is now they have to blend and match the paint. I wish you good luck, on my car they have painted it three times and it still doesn't match perfectly, but Nassau Blue is a royal pain to match. Jeff

Thanks, and I think Le Mans blue will be as much of a pain. There is this glorious metal flake underneath, and we'll see...

I'd replace the whole thing and go with something like a Tiger Shark, Specter Works, etc rear fascia. Great opportunity to get a nice mod.
