Default Blown engine at 9500 miles

Hey Guys, Its my turn to rant about my car.

Well it all started at 1800 miles with oil comsumption problem took the car to where I bought it Team Cheny now (Odgen chevy in Westmont Il.) I will never go back there or recomend them to anyone since they lost Jason and soon you will understand why. So anyway Jason does the repair evey thins is fine until the Right side rocker assembley comes loose at 3500 miles, ok they fix that also about 8000 miles I take it back to have a bunch of stuff done and have them listen to the engine it is knocking. Well the new tech tell me your crazy all corvettes sound like that its piston slap and will not effect proformance( big Bull Sh*t) ok fine I have some faith in them still and go on my way.
Well it starts getting louder and louder call the service guy and bring it in again still tells me I'm crazy. Oh the clutch throught out bearing is also making noise but I dont hear that either. and yes it does need a new bearing.

So filnaly I take my car to Hoskins chevy in Elk grove tell the guy what has been going on and they say they will check it out,
Well by the pics I have attached you can see how I cant hear any problems with my car. Im not sating im the smartest man on the planet but it aint like this is my fisrt car or the first engine I have heard or worked on for that matter.
Now my car has been at Hoskins for 3 weeks with no engine in it after fighting with Gm to get a new one and getting the SHAFT they are putting a new block and pistons in the car.

My point in all of this if you dont get the service you know to be correct and deserve go some where else it is woth it.

ANd if anyone else has had this problem let me know who it worked out for you.

I will be sending the Di*K heads and Odgen Chevy my 0.02 when I get my car back along with the pictures I dont believe that they would give me this kind of service when I bought the car there and had all of the service dont there.

Well enought ranting just had to vent, of course this is not all I have to say about this but who want to read more.

Thanks for listening

Rob

Man, those piston skirts really scored the cylinder wall. Was the rocker problem on the same side? If the valves weren't opening all the way, it's posible fuel washed down the cylinder causing the rings to bind and rock the piston. Or the tollerances on that piston and cylinder were too loose.

Sorry to hear of this - defects are one thing but there's no excuse to not listen to the customer.

I'd be mad as heck also. No excuse for the sloppy way the dealer treated you. Hope the new dealer gets you all fixed up and back on the road.

Too bad you had to go through so much !!!

It’s great that you stuck to your guns and won this one

Please keep us all informed about how the rebuild turns out.

Oh, and when it's up and running strong again, mod the SH*T out of that monster

Can't say anything about the dealer on Ogden but when I used to live in Streamwood, Illinois I bught an S10 from Hoskins in Elk Grove Village in '96 and they treated me right not only when buying the truck but also when it needed service.

I think they should put a new motor in there, not rebuild the old one!

I would ask the MGR of the dealership what the trade in value of a vette with a motor that was blown and repaired is versus a vette with a motor that was blown and then replaced with a new one.

Take his responses to the service MGR. and explain to him, the $ you are taking if the motor is "fixed".

Man this sucks,, sorry to hear about it and I hope it all works out for the best. Next time (hopefully you won't have any other problems) go to Bernard Chevy in Libertyville. Might be a drive for you but Kevin is the Vette tech there and you won't find a more knowledgeable and good guy than Kevin. He really knows his stuff. He also owns his own High Performace vette shop on the side. I think his name on the forum here is KP@HP.

Good luck

Was it Louis that told you that noise is normal at Ogden? He told me the same thing when I complained of an engine noise on my 2001 as well. This is The Dealer that sold me my 2004 knowing full well there was a recall on it and sold it to me un repaired.

I bought my 97 from them, drove it back to MN and then spent $2500 a week later for a new fuel sending unit and a wheel bearing. Both were supposedly fixed before I arrived to purchase the car. I would never go there again. Sorry you had an unpleasant experience as well.
