Default Can't clear check engine light

Ok guy's what am I doing wrong ?- I can't clear the check engine light. I was driving down the road in my 04 Z and my check engine lt come on, get home and do the press option and press the fuel 4 times thing to get the codes, codes come up " U1064 " lose of communications
" B2282 " Battery # 1 fault DCM left-- " B2254" Battery # 2 DCM and
" B2252 " Key Cylinder. What the hell is going on?
I pressed the reset button numorus times and the " check engine" is still showing up in DIC. When each one of these codes pops up do I need to press the reset button at that time to clear each code to get rid of the "check engine" light or ?. I must be going about the procedure back asswards to clear the check engine lt.

Check the gas tank cap filler. It must be on tight or emmisions sensors kick in.

Are you going into manual mode, and 'holding' the reset button down till the code is removed?

I was following what I found on halltech web page since I have been dealing with the check engine light as well recently.

1) Turn on the ignition but don't start the engine.

2) Press the "RESET" button to turn off any warning messages

3) Press and hold "OPTIONS"

4) While holding "OPTIONS", press "FUEL" four times within a 10-second period.

Once the system has displayed all modules, it goes into the manual mode which allows selection of each module using combinations of Driver Information Center buttons. Manual mode can also be entered during the automatic sequence by pressing any button except "E/M". Once the display shows "Manual Diagnostics", select a module by pressing the "OPTIONS" button to go forward or the "TRIP" button to go back. Once a module is selected, a code is displayed, and if more than one are present; press "GAGES" to go forward or "FUEL" to go back.

To exit the diagnostic mode at any time, press "E/M". If you want to erase codes in a given module, press "RESET".

To reset the codes once in manual mode, press and hold "RESET" until it displays "NO CODES". Press "OPTIONS" to go to the next module. Repeat the steps until you have reset the codes in all the computer modules. NOTE!! Only reset the codes IF you want to - it is NOT necessary to do this. Clearing a code does not repair a problem. You are simply erasing the evidence of it in the module's memory.

You have to hold the reset button in until the light goes off. Don't just push it and let it out.

How many miles do you have on your Z???
Mine did the same thing at 1100 miles. Dealer cleared the codes with a tech 2 diagnostic tool. There were no problems according to the read out , but he suspected the gas cap was not sealed and that caused the light to come on.

You do not need a Tech II to clear the codes. Codes can be cleared with the D.I.C. Just hold the reset button down for a few seconds when viewing the codes in manual mode. You can use the Gauges or Fuel button to skip the auto mode and jump right to manual mode.

The only codes that can be successfully cleared are "History" codes. If you have a "Current" code then the code will come right back and the Check Engine Light will turn back on.

The tech II gives you a very exact readout of what, when and why information on any code. I did not mean to imply that it was required to clear them.

I think they have changed things on the 04. To reset a code I have to go into manual mode as you have suggested plus go into the sub menu part where the actual codes come up before reset will clear them. If I am just at the part where for example "10-PCM 2 Codes" is displayed it will not reset.

The other thing I have noticed is that my 04 will enter the diiagnostics while the engine is running. This is true even if you are driving down the road. I know the instructions say the engine must not be running but the key must be on. Not true on the 04.

it will be the rich/lean codes

you have to push the "enter" button and erase both of them one at a time.....then do the computer relearn procedure

i forget which button is the "enter", i think it's the fuel button

There are two codes in there, you have to retrieve the specific codes.
