Default Can you remove frame pieces?

Can you remove the curved metal pieces just under the front end that scrape on driveways if they get damaged, and replace them, or are they welded to the frame?

They are removable and can be replaced. In fact I need to do this as well. The only issue in replacing them is removing the front nose and supporting the radiator.

Just out of curiosity, do they actually serve a purpose besides protecting the front bumper from hitting an object? Would the front fascia sag without it? Just curious since eliminating that assembly would free up some pounds, especially since its most likely made of steel.

And the Horns and the AIR pump.

Leave it there you will be very glad you did! I replaced mine, and it is a bitch to do. You can get either skids or those weld on wheels to protect it more. I have the skids.

I have beel glad it is there more than once, but then I am lowered a good deal!

You do not need to remove the nose and the radiator stays in place ok. It is a bitch to wrangle out of there, but can be done.

They're just bolted on. I've heard they are a bit expensive to buy though.

Heres a question... what about the curved plastic piece that matches the center air dam piece? That way you just have the center piece like the Fbodys do. Those don't look like they're needed at all, I know the center piece is needed to route air up to the radiator.

They do nothing but catch on the rhino ramps on the way up.

I think those are simply there for aerodynamic purposes. There would be more turbulence under the car without them (not a big deal unless you like to get your vette into the triple digits).

Has anyone actually removed these? They look ok?

I wonder how it would look w/ the center so low and not the sides. Hmm..

Only reason Im debating is because my left side one is hanging uneven and bent and it looks ****ty
