Default Winterizing your C5? DIAL UP BEWARE!

Me too! One reason I love the Best Coast! All this talk by others about "putting cars away for the winter ..." Bah! Humbug! This was how I spent my Friday "Winterizing" my car ... fresh coat of wax, polisher and I'm even ready for the Show in Chino Hills tomorrow! Have a nice weekend all!

nothing like NTX .. I presume it's ntx simply because of your leaving it on long enough to "haze over".

i can relate, us floridianers have the same problem. If you can call not having a winter a problem.

Neables .. my late nite friend! Yeah ... no NXT toay .. just Zymol. I might do a coat of NXT tomorrow morning before I roll to Chino Hills. NXT is a good "top coat" though right? You still need a wax base? Or am I over-doing it? I usually do a NXT top coat, but I did a top-to-bottom detail today (8 hrs worth) Couldn't do more. Nice to have Winter again! Where are my darn sunglasses?

Default Come North And Enjoy Our Winter Weather

Rub in the nice weather! I do like the palm trees in the backround, not to mention your Vette! We don't all have the luxury of living in the nice climates. Many of us are in the process of getting our Vettes ready to hybernate during the upcoming foul winter. Ever been to northern Minnesota or North Dakota during the middle of winter? Imagine -20 temperatures. Stick your head in your freezer some time. Doesn't even come close. Ever imagined driving a few hundred miles on roadways literally covered with an ice film? Then, when the state and county trucks finally get out, they put sand laced with salt all over the road surfaces. It isn't pretty! Frankly, it sucks! Admittedly, I should have moved to the nice weather when I was young, but things didn't work out that way. So, all you folks in the warm weather enjoy your Vettes while the rest of us blow snow, brave the roads and spent the next 6 months indoors. And, if you think we are nuts to put our Vettes away during this period of time, I invite you to drive yours up here say...in the middle of January! I think you will get the picture in short order. I had hoped to spend this weekend driving my Vette, but the weather outside is wet and cold. I even took off work yesterday to spend time in the Vette. Didn't happen. Now I have to hope that Monday and Tuesday are nice as I took them off too in order to do what I have to do to put mine away. Well, anyway...enjoy the sun and palm trees. Dan

Not to be critical, but I think you could get away with using half the wax your using. A light film is all you need. It's the most common problem people have. The more you use the harder it is to remove. Just thought I'd mention that. And you did miss a spot.

Default Fast And Fine Product

Have any of you used a line of products known as "Fast and Fine?" When I went with my son to the Trans Am Nationals in Dayton, Ohio this year, there was a vendor there selling this line of products. We bought some of the wax and some of the mist and shine products, micro fiber towels, etc. I've used the mist and wipe product, but didn't use the wax. The vendor is a Corvette owner and that is all he uses on his Vette. Many of the TA owners use this product as well, and that is why he was the only vendor allowed near the cars on display. He also noted that one should not put wax on in a circular motion as it leads to the circular swirl marks. He suggested a straight in-line back and forth motion. The wax product can go in the sun and stay on for days and not be a problem to remove. In fact, he said the longer it is on the better. Dan

I did a good coat...it's really hazed cause I let it sit a while. It really wasn't that thick, but with some rain ... it'll be off again. I have to strip and redo it again sometime. It wasn't hard to remove, I used my polisher I got the spot before removing the wax ... thanks to the pic, I did see it! Thanks guys.

20" Rims with 55 series tires under wraps ... They were on my Expedition ... had 'em ready to sell and buyer back out.

I used Meguiar's Tire Gel ... I like how it lasts. Just make sure you let it dry really well.

I just wanted to share the good weather wishes. It does rain a lot though.
