Default Newbie C5 question

Why do some C5's have a fin going through the little scoop behind front wheels while others have no fin going through it?? Sorry, newbie here....

I believe you are asking about the BSM ... or Body Side Moldings. It was an option and alot of members have removed them also. They do however, protect the doors from dings.

Oh, and the "scoop behind the front wheels" is refered to as a "gill".

The BSM's go from behind the front wheel to the back edge of the door on each side. Is this what you're referring to?
I have them and love them, but that's why they are an option--get what you like.
Oh--welcome and don't forget to

Its the body side molding, an option on the C5's. Some like it, some don't. IMO, it looks good on some colors.

If you are looking to buy used, don't let a Vette having the BSM's stop you from buying it. As Killrwheels mentioned above they can be removed. Good luck in your search

Thank you for such a warm welcome!!

I've been very busy shopping. So far, I found a 1997 local to me in black, which is my color of choice, about 65k miles for about 16k. The only drawback is that it is an automatic and I've been really hoping for a manual, but it is so difficult to find one that meets all my requirements

Again, thank you all for the welcome, I cant wait to be driving my new vette!

$16K with only 65K miles????

Better jump on that one hard. Drive it a month or two and sell it for a $3k profit.

Default Love my BSM'S !!!

Being the Corvette is a "car magnet" in parking lots, is good protection for all those other cars who just HAVE to park next to us no matter how far away we park from others!
