I am a newbie and this is my first post, but I have been reading other posts for some time now. What a forum !!!
I have an '01 with Chrome wheels. About a couple months back I hit a curb going 35mph. I took it to the dealer and he realigned my front end. However, he indicated the front wheel had a slight dent in it. He balanced the tire, but I have noticed at about 80mph I have a slight vibration in the sterring. I took it back to the dealer and he said that was the best he could do. He also indicated that the wheel could be repaired for about $100 +/-. Is that true ? If so, do any of you know anyone in the Dallas area that could do a repair. I want to get this done before I purchase new tires - I currently have 30,000 mi on them with a few more miles left.
if they are the stock polished wheels, many shops can fix and repolish effeciently. if they are indeed aftermarket chrome rims (C5's never came from factory with chrome rims, just high polished rims) then they have to be stripped and fixed and replated which costs more than a new rim from houseofwheels anyway so u might just be better off getting a new one there. or pony up the money for those sweet C6 replica wheels...or CCWs or .......ok ill stop now.
I am a dodge dealer that has sold many corvettes. I always send out whatever wheels they come with and get back a set of new chromes. The exchange for all four is 495 my cost. If there is damage it is about $100 extra. West coast corvettes has a wheel exchange program as well. My most recent exchange was an 01 Z06 last week. I exchanged the gray wheels for chromes. Now the Z06 looks ten times better for 500 bucks. Whoever I sell it to will be happy.
Judging from the reviews we've gotten here on the Forum about wheel repair, I'd be looking for a new set of wheels if I were you, or at very least a replacement wheel.
Bob's House of Wheels can set you up at minimal cost. THat's where I'd be looking. THey have OUTSTANDING customer service.

If you want to stick with the same style wheels, I would check with some of the forum vendors and just get a new wheel. That way you know it is a good one.
Thanks everyone for the reply. If you were to look at the wheel all you would see are scratches on on quarter of the outer edge. As I mentioned the dealer tried to balance it. I do think it could be fixed. I will contact Bob at "House of Wheels".
