Can I shave the Dot matrix pattern

Default Can I shave the Dot matrix pattern

Can I shave the Dot matrix pattern on the back window before tinting?
I understand I'll have to be super careful not to destroy the rear window defroster...thinking a flat razor would do the trick???

I think you'd be better off to paint around them instead. That's what I've heard several times that some of the better tint shops did.

I've heard of people lightly sanding it but never heard of anyone using a razor blade on it.

Others have said that they were able to tint right over the dots with no problem. I think they just had to go back a few days after the tint was originally put and and just smooth everything back out again.

If you try using a flat razor, you'll probably scratch the window.
I prep new cars and have had to scrape glue off the inside of a window more than once, and haven't even scratched the dot pattern on the window with a little pressure. The amount of pressure you'd need with a flat razor would definately scratch the window.
