Went to start the Z at Lowes today, and nothing, nada. No crank at all. All the gauges lit up, but I tried twisting the key about 3 times and nothing. Thought to myself, what would keep it from cranking? Hmmn, pushed the clutch in n'out a couple of times, hit the key and it cranked right over.
I've also noticed in the past that the car seems to have a delay in cranking between hitting the key and it turning over. Could I possibly have a bad clutch lock-out switch, or would it be something else? Is this a common occurence? I'm too lazy to do a search tonight. Thanks!
Oh BTW, I have a CLB from Thunder Racing installed if it makes any difference.
Could be that switch, security lockout (from alarm system), Column Lock problem or just not enough cracnking power left in the battery to point where it does nothing even though you may still have enough to run accessories. Good luck, hope you find the answer.
BTW, someone else had a similar post awhile back and it turned out something was blocking the clutch from being able to go down enough to engage the switch. You might want to check for that (floor mat, etc).
Thanks for the replies. My guess is the clutch switch since it cranked after I engaged/disengaged it a couple of times. Either that or the ignition switch? We'll see if it occurs again, and if clutch movement fixes it I'll have to assume the clutch switch.
I have that same problem, turn the key and nothing happens right away and then it will crank, so far nobody has been able to help me, but I'm thinking that it might be the clutch switch
