Ok, I'm about to do the lower thing. After all the reading about how the rubber thingy in the front is supposed to scrape, I thought I'd try it.
But how much? I know that you can't get more than about an inch without cutting the bushings (and I'm not going to cut mine), but how do you know how much to turn each one? I don't want to end up with the front higher than the back. How do you make sure you lower each wheel the same amount, without multiple tries where you have to take the wheels off and on again and jack the thing up a dozen times?
Jack - After talking to other owners, mechanics, technicians, and autocross drivers; I only lowered mine about an inch on stock bolts and did not cut the bushings.
I do run mine in autocross events and even with Hotchkis sway bars and Bilstein shocks - there needs to be some room under there. My wheels are slightly larger than stock, too.
While you can go lower by cutting bushings - I've heard that can really affect the ride in your car. But I'm sure others will chime in with other thoughts.
Here's a pic of my coupe and I-SPEED's FRC which is lowered much more than mine.....

Hope this helps........
Mine was lowered to the max on the front without cutting the bushings and the previous owner had swapped out the 6" bolts for the 8" bolts to lower it right down so that the lip of the fender was even with the top of the tire.
The ride SUCKED! My wife hated it - and I gotta admit I wasn't crazy about it. I put the 6" bolts back, lowered it about 1.25" on the stock bolts and it was like a different car. I like it just the way it is now. Oh, and BTW - if you're lucky enough to get Patches to help you - take him up on it. The man knows his stuff!
When I lowered mine I took the front bolts down all the way on stock bushings and then backed off 1/2 turn. This will make the ride much better in my opinion. Some of the tutorials I read on the net suggested backing off the bolt 1/4 turn but I figured 1/2 would be better, it was.
The back you want to go all the way until 2 threads are left showing. You don't need to remove the cotter pin or anything like that, just turn the bolt until you have 2 threads showing. This gave me about 7/8 of a drop all the way around and I am very happy with the improved handling and looks.

Thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for, how much to bring it down in plain english. What we need around here is a book called, "C5's for Dummies".
Thanks Patches. Don't guess I could get you to come over to my house and take care of it for me, could I?
If not, AT THIS TIME, I guess I can do it with the tip from IVVETTE. May be back for more advice though if I start having problems. If you see a black coupe running around with one wheel not touching the ground, you'll know who it is!
