Moving my 99 vert into storage this weekend - (just bought the car in June) It's a wood floor barn. 1. I assume I should take battery out and stored inside. -2. Will the run flat tires have problems (i.e. become out of round ) if the car is not moved till Spring? 3. In the Supra I used to store I would put moth ***** in engine compartment and in car to keep mice out - any other ideas on how to keep mice away.
thanks..........
There are several threads on this topic over the last couple of weeks with great information. You should check them out. I'm putting mine in storage tomorrow. I'm changing the oil, inflating my tires to 40, cleaning and polishing the car, unlatching my roof, parking the car on carpet samples, hooking a battery tender up and setting mouse traps around the garage and next to each wheel. Hope this helps. Good luck. Dan
Fortunately, I live in a part of the country where we do no have to store our cars, so I really can't answer your questions. But, here's something from the C5 Tech Tips: Storing a C5.
You might want to consider a Car Jacket. A barn may get a bit damp over the Winter and the Car Jacket will eliminate any moisture problems. A friend of mine stored a Boxter on a dirt floor in the basement of a barn from Nov-mid April where it was extremely damp and used a Car Jacket. The car came out of the Jacket perfect. Not even a hint of rust on rotors. In addition, he used Irish Spring in the interior and engine compartment just in case some critters tore into the bag. They didn't. Unfortunately, my garage was put on hold until Spring so I'm using a Car Jacket to store my 04 in a Cover-It garage and expect good results.

Why store it, We get enough dry clear days in the winter to take it out for a blast . Yes you might end up with a little salt dust but it cleans up fine. And why so early? We still have a couple of months of clear weather. You will be kicking yourself when we get "Indian Summer". Don't store it, drive it .

That inflatable bubble that a few of the CF vendors sell looks like it would be pretty effective.
The other thing I've heard is getting some of those silca-gel bags that wick up the moisture, and placing them aound the interior.
In the old days when in I lived in the Rust-Belt (Chicago), I used to store my motorcycle. I put Sta-Bil in a full tank of fuel. On a Vette, you might need more than one can. It kept moisture from forming in the fuel. I poured it in, filled the tank and drove around a little bit to make sure that it was mixed and in the fuel system.
You also might consider putting the car up on jack stands to keep the weight off the tires and keep them from flat spotting.
