Default My car's making creaking sounds....

My '99 has started making creaking sounds - like an old mattress. What needs grease?

OK, help us out a bit.. Where is the creaking coming from (front end, back end, left side, right side) and when does it happen (when turning wheel, going over bumps)....

More than likely it is your sway bar bushings.. its an easy fix... four bolts front, four bolts rear... drop the bushings , note! the bushing position relative to the bushing clamp.
the sway bars get rusty over time, and start to moan.. especially noticable over speed bumps .
sand off the rust on the bars it's only an inch wide.. you do not need to remove the sway bars..
paint the sanded area... clean any rust from the split bushings.. add some dielectric grease to the original bushings... or buy new bushings..
if the bushing still seem soft,( not rock hard or flaking) there is no need to buy new ones..

if it's your top i have read here that you need to grease and free up the two little rollers on the front latches for your roof. Hope one of these help!

Sorry - I didn't have time to elaborate. Not the roof, I gave up on that long ago. It's definitely in the suspension. When I roll out of my driveway or go over a bump in the road it creaks. I can just sit in the car and rock from side to side and it creaks. Like a rusty mattress.

It started a week or so ago.

At the risk of sounding like a used car salesman, a tunnel reinforcement plate will help tighten up that frame.

The bushings, as stated above, are most likely the problem. I've noticed that it gets much worse as the weather starts to get cooler, so either go farther south or get some grease.

Yeah - I had some other plans - but I did a simulated dyno pull with a Camero who actually waited for me on an on ramp last Friday. What a whacko - but I him good.

BTW Steve, I saw your car at Valaya not long ago - what dyno numbers did you end up with?

Thanks for the advice guys - much appreciated.

I used ZEP Liquid grease, and shoved the little red straw as far in as I could and sprayed the carp out of all the rubber parts.

I ran a 637/572... the car is running way rich... going in for some new mods and a tune very soon... New dyno numbers higher than 668/570 will be the result.
