Anybody that has installed the flush mount kit, do you think it's a good idea to drill a small hole at the bottom of the housing to let the water drain out?
I like the idea of the flush mount kit. I actually have one waiting to go on. I just can't find the long torx screws. I do not like the ones that were sent with the kit. I personally wouldn't drill a hole, because one day you may not want the lights to be flush. Good luck
I would not drill a hole, the water should just either flow out of the backside of the tail lamp or out of the front. BTW, you can paint the head of the longer screws that came with the kit. Mine looks just fine.
I've drilled 1/4 inch holes that work very well to drain the water and they are not visible at all. Oh yeah, and I do not have flush mounted tail lights. So, done correctly, they will not be visible with or without the kit.

Holes are not a good idea...
the hole is present on either side of the housing...
...so the motive to drain from the outside works...
and so there is an equal opportunity for dirt, water, coming back through the hole from underneath...
In fact, much of the dirt I clean around the taillights is actually thrown up from underneath StuzVette and ends up under and behind the taillight lens...
I have a set waiting to be installed. Just have not found the time. Saw some pictures posted on this Forum and I liked the look. Got them on sale from a Forum vendor.
