Default installed gauge bezels.....need your help!

my superglue wasnt as clean as i thought. i had just a little bit on my hands and it ended everywhere inside the instrument cluster. didnt even see it until i already had it back in the car. it just kep getting worse as it dried. it was like a real light residue of glue. i tried nail polish remover and it looked better, but tonight it seems to have dried and doesnt look much better.

im gonna take it out again tomorrow for round 2 i guess. what is best to get this glue residue off the cluster? it is only on the surrounding like around the turn and bright signals, not on the speedo or tach faces.

i need your input asap. thanks.

Q-Tips, a steady hand and patience. I think you can get it, but just dab , then wipe. I would suggest Goo-Be-Gone, but I'm not sure it works on Crazy Glue. Good luck.

Fingernail polish remover and a Q-tip will do wonders. I had a bit on the botom of mine and just used the Q-Tip method and it worked great.

NOTE: Make sure that you have the face lens a clean as you can. I took mine apart several times until I was happy.

NEXT: Add the stainless shift-pattern for the shifter **** (if you have MN6) to really set it all off!

got my hurst put in at the same time, i like it but my wife isnt too crazy about, that was expected though. haha.

Also try acetone, $2.49 at walmart, worked for me. Remember to DAB with the q-tip.

Good luck getting this off. Would hate to have to tear the dash apart again.

getting the dash apart really isnt that bad at all. i used vette essentials website for the instructions and everything came apart just like the instructions said, no surprises at all. this morning when i got the cluster out the second time, only took 20 minutes.

i think ive finally got most of this crap off, it isnt noticeable with the clear plastic cover on unless you turn it upside down and look at it. gonna let it dry a little longer just to be sure.

the hardest part of this mod is by far getting the bezels on the gauges without trails of glue anywhere.

here is a tip for anyone thinking of doing this mod. dont touch the bezels with the hand you are getting the glue out with. i was super careful and got some on me somewhere and it ended up in the dash.

worst part was i didnt notice it until i had the cluster back in the car. oh well. i think it is going to be ok, the cluster looks 100 times better the bezels.

here is a pic with the bezels on before putting the cluster back in the car. i cleaned on it for about an hour this morning i think its gonna look fine. anybody wanting to do this mod, it is definately worth the time and effort, looks awesome!

Good info!

Another useful tip- If you don't want to use super glue, you can use a high quality double sided tape- that's what I used and have had no problems.

Hobby shops sell CA (Cyanoacrylate) debonder. I use CA/Accelerators/debonders alot. I prefer USA gold brand. I get mine from Woodcraft.

I had the same problem with the superglue after installing my bezels.
I used acetone and Q-tips. It works great. I had to go over it many times to get all the glue off.
