I have a 50th and should have but didn't.The mod force is strong luke.As Bill Cosby would say "The pipes The pipes"I had to have the pipes.(The 200 mph album)
Of the almost 1/4 million C5 owners, there are about 1000 represented on this forum.. Most of the C5's I see on the street and get to talk to their owners are stock,,, most know nothing of the forum,,, or that you can buy all this stuff... They all love their C5 just as it is... Seems strange to us , but to them, We are the strange ones.. Many of the stock owners seems to know nothing about the wave either.. Most of the people involved with a corvette clubs are modded, but few are not... atleast around this area.. I was surprised at how little these C5 salesman know about mods, the forum, or the right specs on the Car.. most have fabricated a story about C-5 and 6's based very loosly on fact, filled with more BS than fact.
I am. Last Corvette I spent thousands upon thousands on the never ending quest for more horsepower. Instead of driving it I spent much of the time under the car or hood.
I too got caught up in the mod fever with my C4. This car is going to stay stock except for some personel convienence items (Cleartastic, CrazyC5Cowboy partition, Window Valet). No more big buck horsepower mods.
Except for floormats, a new deck and a K & N filter in the stock box, I am; plenty of oomph for me and (strangely) no desire to mod as I have done so with my last two or three cars (mostly Acura, Honda).....
Stock, not me! I'm having too much fun dressing up the car. It was nice enough stock but there are so many little goodies out there that I can't resist. It's only money, I'll make more!
I probably wouldn't have bought the car if I couldn't mod. it, I can't leave anything alone. I think it's a problem I have, when I look at any car I instantly invision how I would change it.
While for the most part, this is a mod happy forum, it's not indicative of owners in general...I think people would be suprised at the # of stock units out there.

Even while driving my modded C5 my jaw still drops and my eyes get big when I see another modded C5, or any vette, on the road (away from an event). More times than not I see the other driver with the same expression. Like ET and Mean Green have said, in the world of corvettes we are the minority. I wouldn't want it any other way
BTW, I'm not only dreaming about an '07 Z06, I'm dreaming about what mods to do first.

I just bought my first vette a month ago. (99 coupe). I thought it was great stock, but in only one I have added a vararam intake, corsa exhaust, hypertech, lloyd floor and cargo mats, sill plates, new engine covers, new rims today, and soon piaa lights. This is just the start. I will never stop adding new stuff. I can't stop. My wife says that I have a problem.
I bought my 00 Coupe new but I had the dealer install the chrome exhaust tips before delivery. Does that count for stock?
I changed the brake pads and DOT3 to DOT4 when I started tracking but other than that I haven't changed a thing. I figure when I want a faster one, I'll buy the Z06 or a C6. Although I'd hate to buy a C6 knowing that the new Z06 will be coming in another year. Not that I don't enjoy all this stuff just as much as you guys, I just have too many other cars, motorcycles and boats and I just don't have the time. So my Coupe remains bone stock.
I lurk around here when I get a chance just to get an occasional glimpse of some pics of your great efforts and ideas and hear you guys talk the talk.
