IMHO - False......based on what I think I have read and what I think my tuner told me.... the MAF is not a factor in the restriction of air intake on a NA LS1.....

Im not really a fan of DRM. Iv been to there shop as i live in minnesota and a few of the guys i go to the track with have cars and motors done by them and im not that impressed with the price/hp there getting from them! But i think they can do good work 4 a price though! laters
Every engine is an air pump. If you put it on a stocker, then the answer is false because the MAS is not where the point of greatest resistance is. However, if you put it on a car with headers, a free-flowing exhaust system, a modified air intake, a "FAST" intake manifold, some modified heads and a new camshaft, it probably WOULD deliver that sort of increase because that would be the "choke point" in the system.
I had a Granatelli on my stock '01 Firehawk after reading this in some magazine (Modern Musclecar, Car Craft, something) and I didn't really feel any gains. Kind of like K&N stating "up to 20 hp"...on a Corsica. I agree with Jackalope's .02 cents.
